ARAM HEKINIAN

Aram Hekinian was born and raised in Brittany, France by an American mother and an Armenian father. Aram's early exposure to theater was through the theater company his mother directed. Aram went to university to study Math and Physics Engineering, but his love for music and theater would not be forgotten. Aram came to America in the mid 90's and has trained in acting at the School for Film and Television, HB Studios and The Lee Strasberg Institute. Aram appeared in several film and television projects, but longed to create his own work. In fall of 2001 Aram met Aruna Naimji and began a collaboration. Together, they worked and studied film at the New School University.

In May of 2003, they created their first 16 mm film "Beauty Magazines..." a film which received enough attention that in August of 2003, they were given their first commercial assignment and went to France to put together a trailer for the BREST EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL with Fabrice Pelle. That one minute trailer was so distinctive, that is was the first film outside of official competition to recieve an honorary award. Armed with their own 35mm Arri camera, Aram and Aruna spent the rest of 2003 and 2004 to shoot their first Lucid Realist film, One Balloon.

Aram and Aruna are currently writing a feature.
